The quickest and cheapest way is for us to provide just the building shell for you to equip if required, or we can do it all for you so it’s handed over ready for its intended business use.
Links to buildings
Our new building can be connected, using a fixed link – or a retractable, portable or sliding tunnel, to your adjacent existing buildings to form a seamless extension, or safe and weather-proof passage.
When you’ve outgrown your existing facilities and have available space on site we can help extend your facility to the size you need now and in the future. Whilst many would call our buildings a “warehouse extension”, it’s actually freestanding. It can be fitted with a tunnel link, fixed or retracting between the existing and the new, providing a fully integrated extension. In some circumstances we can simply extend an existing building with no gap between at all.
Windows & Doors
We can supply and fit a large selection of windows and doors, e.g. roller doors, sliding gates, rapid risers, sectional up-and-over doors, oversized, insulated, fire-proof cargo doors and a range of pedestrian doors. Glazed windows, security grilles, canopies and other accessories are also available.
We can supply all manner of windows and doors in a wide range of sizes to fit into the walls of your new building. We can supply and fit roller doors, sliding gates, rapid risers, sectional up-and-over doors, oversized, insulated, fire-proof cargo doors and a range of pedestrian doors. Glazed windows, security grilles, canopies and other accessories are also available. Just ask us for details.
Mezzanines
We can provide a custom designed mezzanine floor within your building, including any access stairways or safety railings. If space is at a premium at your site, you might like us to create a taller building with a mezzanine for workshop or office space over your operational area, for example.
Mezzanines are an excellent way to maximise space especially in a roof area. We can provide a custom designed mezzanine floor within your building, allowing you multiple purpose options and floor layouts. For example, creating office space above a storage area or equipped workshop. Various floor loadings can also be offered so heavier items can be fitted or used on the raised floor. We can also supply stairways, access equipment and safety railings.
Internal Fittings
We have a wide and varied range of fittings, fixtures and features available to finish off your building to the standard you require. Please just ask.
Thanks to other Big Box Group companies we can offer an in-house turnkey solution to internal fit-out, especially when it comes to storage facilities. We have a wide and varied range of fittings, fixtures and features available including access barriers, lighting, climate control heating for staff comfort, ducting and chilled facility creation. We can also specify all types of storage including shelving, racking, conveyors and materials handling equipment.
Signage
We can provide signage for your warehouse for health and safety and directional purposes plus any other requirements you may have including any branding.
We can provide signage for an area, even brand the whole building both internally and externally. This can include internal directional signage, health & safety signs, floor stencils, aisle markers and hanging signs as well as external branding signage and wall fascias.
Partitioning
We can create full height & width internal walls to subdivide our buildings so they appear to be multiple, inter-linked if you wish, buildings. Or bespoke partitioning to create dedicated and protected internal workspaces, office accommodation and other areas.
We can create useful dedicated and protected internal work spaces, office accommodation and other areas by using partitioning, providing bespoke internal areas according to precise zoning and room requirements. It is cost effective to provide a large building shell and create several smaller facilities by using partitions. Our standard building design allows internal divisions between the building uprights, for example a 20m x 120m building can easily be subdivided into three inter-linking or separate 20x40m units.
Fire Resilience
If you need (or more likely your landlord, insurance company or Building Regs/Inspector needs) fire resilience then we will specify our semi permanent buildings to include the appropriate cladding, fire safety systems etc.
Although our PVC is fire retardant if you need any level of fire resilience then you need one of our semi permanent all sandwich panelled exterior buildings. Our standard cladding on the roof gables and walls uses PIR filling rather than the more flammable PUR. We can also offer mineral wool panels for enhanced fire protection, in a range of specifications, to meet building use and insurance regulations. Our steel buildings can also support the weight of a sprinkler fire suppression system if required.
Health & Safety
We have a range of internal and external safety products to ensure our building complies with standards and meets expectations for all aspects of H&S. For example barriers, bollards, fencing, gates, signage etc.
Temporary and semi permanent buildings can be made just as safe as more permanent ones. We offer a range of internal and external safety features such as bollards, barriers, fences and netting etc. We can also discuss with you specialist materials for partitions and floors and, if you have one, how to make your mezzanine compliant. Safety signage can be supplied so that your building is safe and fully operational from day one.
Our range of tunnels
A retractable or sliding tunnel (which may be on rails for stability or wheels for portability) is a surprisingly useful addition to our buildings and they serve a wide variety of purposes in their own right. Dry transit, temporary loading cover/bays when space is tight, temporary usage areas – or even as a basic building solution in its own right if you need to avoid Planning permission.
There’s a wide range of useful applications for retractable tunnels, some obvious, others less so. There’s covered transit for vehicles, forklifts & people and necessary cover between buildings in a workplace, for example transport terminals in hospitals and wet weather queue cover in retail. And there’s also temporary cover for anything from vehicles to machinery and also for loading areas. A major advantage to a tunnel is there’s a covered area only when it’s needed and afterwards it can be retracted when not in use.
The tunnels work either on rails or on wheels allowing them to be moved between locations. Either way, they are easily extended and deployed according to needs. They are robust yet lightweight, with aluminium frames and covered in PVC but with various options including windows, doors, shaped to work around corners and down hills etc. The tunnels have a pantograph, concertina system that affords significant versatility and can be used at different lengths for example. They can be translucent, different colours, branded etc.
And whilst we always advocate compliance with standards & rules, prospective customers are sometimes keen to avoid going through the planning process, most temporary buildings need planning permission, just like a “normal” building. However, if you have a retractable tunnel that’s on wheels and it’s pushed back when not being used then it’s in use for less than 28 days at a time and may escape the need for planning.
